Heidelberg Center Latin America

The Heidelberg Center for Latin America (HCLA) is the Latin American campus of Heidelberg University and a Center of Excellence in Research and Teaching. Founded in 2002 in Santiago, Chile, it is the first postgraduate center of a German university in the region and, since 2009, has been part of the DAAD’s network of Centers of Excellence. Its work focuses on the development of master’s programs and continuing education, as well as on promoting academic dialogue and international cooperation in areas of strategic importance for Latin America.

German Language Courses

The German Department of the HCLA offers German language courses to accompany your studies. Students, lecturers and researchers are offered the opportunity to acquire German language skills tailored to their needs. The German program includes language courses at basic and intermediate levels of different intensity, grammar and conversation courses, and a subject-oriented language course in law.
