Forschung
Als Zentrum für Forschung und Lehre der Universität Heidelberg in Lateinamerika gehört das Heidelberg Center Lateinamerika (HCLA) zu verschiedenen Netzwerken und Forschungsprojekten in, mit und über Lateinamerika.
2009 wurde das HCLA mit dem Preis „Erster Wettbewerb zum Aufbau von Exzellenzzentren in Forschung und Lehre“ ausgezeichnet, der vom Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienst (DAAD) für Projekte von anerkannter Qualität zur Stärkung der internationalen Ausrichtung deutscher Universitäten verliehen wird. Diese Auszeichnung weist das HCLA als Exzellenzzentrum aus und treibt die Entwicklung von innovativen Projekten sowie die Festigung von Forschungsnetzwerken in verschiedenen Bereichen voran.
Das HCLA koordiniert die regionale und kollaborative Durchführung von Forschungsprojekten in den Area Studies des Heidelberg Center for Ibero-American Studies (HCIAS), die 2019 als zentrale wissenschaftliche Einrichtung in Heidelberg gegründet wurde.
Das HCLA unterstützt die Forschungsaktivitäten seiner eigenen Studierenden. Durch eine forschungsorientierte Lehre fördert das HCLA aktiv die Einbindung von Master- und Promotionsstudierenden sowie Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen und –wissenschaftler in Forschungsprojekte der Universität Heidelberg.
