SUMMER SCHOOL “ENERGY SPACES AND TRANSITIONS”
The expansion and application of renewable energies are gaining priority and importance worldwide. The strategies, policies and corresponding measures taken by governments and states have far-reaching and very specific implications in multiple spheres. The use of technology, the planning of power plants and the prospects for decarbonization of entire industries and countries depend, among other factors, on the geographic location where they are to be implemented.
In this summer school, experts from the University of Heidelberg, the University of Chile and other Chilean universities, as well as experts on the field, together with the participants, will address the topic of renewable energies in old and new energy spaces by means of the following research questions:
- How do narratives, data, regulations, valorization strategies, governance arrangements or infrastructures (re)produce new and old energy spaces?
- What is the relationship between space and technology, energy policy and transition scenarios?
- What conflicts can be observed in relation to the production of new and old energy spaces?
Target audience
The course is aimed at master's and doctoral students in the areas of Social Sciences (Sociology, Political Science), Geography, Anthropology, Engineering, Environmental Sciences and those interested from related areas.
